About the Fellows Program
Each semester, the UNC Institute of Politics brings an experienced politician or civic leader to campus to lead an 8-week long seminar series with weekly office hours. Students often hear from professors, but the Fellows Program allows them to network with and learn directly from experienced professionals. This fall, students have the chance to gain firsthand insight into the world of North Carolina politics with Fellow Wayne Goodwin.

About the Fellow
Wayne Goodwin is a UNC Undergraduate and Law School alum (’89, ’92). He served as Chairperson of the NC Democratic Party in 2017 and 2019, following his two statewide elections in 2008 and in 2012 as our state’s tenth Insurance Commissioner. Prior to that, Goodwin served four elected terms in the NC House of Representatives, where he represented Richmond, Scotland, Montgomery, and Stanly County. Seminars are free and open to students, faculty, staff, University affiliates, and members of the community, and no RSVP is required to attend. Access the full syllabus here.
